The wedding will be held in Bali, Indonesia, near one of the cultural centers of the island, Ubud . The wedding will be held at the villa complex called Pala Ubud about 15 minutes from the center of Ubud.
Flying to Bali
There is one major international airport in Bali, Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), located in the city of Denpasar, on the southern coast of the island.
Unless you’re flying in from South East Asia or Australia, you will likely need to fly in via Singapore, Hong Kong, or Kuala Lumpur; this will depend on your country of origin and which airline you choose.
For instance, if you fly with Singapore Airlines, the flight from San Francisco to Singapore is approximately 16-17 hours, and the flight from Singapore to Bali is approximately two and a half hours.
Visa on Arrival
To get a Visa on Arrival (VOA) in Bali, follow the “Visa on Arrival” signs at the airport, pay the IDR 500,000 ($35) fee at the dedicated counter, and present your passport and the VOA slip to the immigration officer to receive your visa stamp.
They accept cash or card. You’ll need a passport with at least six months of remaining validity and a confirmed outbound flight ticket.
Getting to Ubud and around the island
You can expect the ride to take between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the traffic and time of day. You have a few options to get to Ubud from the airport.
- Official airport taxi counter: Get a fixed fare taxi from the official counter at the airport (about 20-40 USD depending on the number of people and time of day).
- Ride-hailing apps: Download Grab (the Indonesian versions of Uber) and MyBluebird (the local taxi app) on your phone.
- Keep in mind that there are some restrictions for Grab within central Ubud.
- Private transfer: Book a private transfer through your accommodation.

International Roaming and Data
Check with your phone carrier to see if your plan includes international roaming and data.
If not, we recommend using a service like Airalo . This is an eSIM service that allows you to buy data for your phone while you are traveling basically anywhere in the world. You can buy cheap data packages and top up as needed.
This is only for data, not for calls or texts. Most places and people in Indonesia use WhatsApp for communication which will work with data.
